Hawaii Officials Give the Green Light to Casino Resort in Kapolei

  • Stormy Daniels needs your help to destroy Trump Plaza in Atlantic City
  • Virginia mobile betting apps to launch in a few weeks’ time
  • A lucky player wins the biggest jackpot in Las Vegas in eight years

Let’s start this week’s news recap with a little throwback to the one from last Friday. One of the things discussed in that recap was the auction organized by Atlantic city officials, the winner of which will get to demolish Trump’s former casino on the Boardwalk. Anyone with enough money can apply. It’s estimated that the highest bid could end up being a 7-figure number.

Stormy Daniels would love to be the one to blow it up, but she doesn’t seem too keen to pay the entire sum herself. Instead, the pornstar who got a lot of mainstream media attention following the sex scandal involving President Trump, is asking for your help. She’s started a GoFundMe campaign to win the right to press the demolition button.

See…? Dreams can come true! This will piss off Tiny so fucking much! And it's for charity…one he can't steal from. LOL! https://t.co/zQwddmL0CI

In other casino news, Hawaii officials are thinking about changing their extremely anti-gambling stance following the economic crisis brought up by the COVID-19 pandemic. At the moment, Hawaii is one of the two US states in which all forms of gambling are banned (the other one being Utah), so the fact that its officials are even thinking about legalization should be thought of as a giant leap forward.

More good news for American gaming fans is that Virginia is getting ready for the launch of mobile betting. According to Virginia Lottery’s spokesperson, mobile betting apps are likely to launch in time for Super Bowl LV.

Over in Las Vegas, a lucky slot player known only as Kevin got an unbelievable Christmas gift last night – $15.5 million jackpot on Megabucks.

Hawaii Legislators Open Doors to the Construction of a Casino Resort in Kapolei

It would be an understatement to call Hawaii’s gambling laws strict. The Aloha State is actually one of the most anti-gambling places in North America.

Not a single gaming form is permitted in Hawaii. This includes not only gambling for money but social gambling as well. The only other state that comes anywhere near Hawaii in terms of anti-gaming sentiment is Utah.

However, things might change in the not-so-distant future, as Hawaii’s officials are looking to find another source of income. The state that heavily relies on tourism has been hit harsh by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the pandemic’s end is near, the state’s economy might need some help to get back on its feet.

For many, the solution lies in relaxing Hawaii’s traditionally strict anti-gambling policies. Among the ones who believe this are the members of the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL). The department has recently come up with a draft legislative proposal to permit limited gambling in an integrated resort in Kapolei.

On Tuesday, December 22, the Hawaiian Homes Commission (HHC) voted 5-4 to approve the proposal. The next step is to take the Hawaii casino resort proposal to the Attorney General and the Department of Budget & Finance. Finally, Gov. David Ige would also have to approve the proposal and include it in his legislative package.

Virginia Sports Betting Apps to Launch in Early 2021

There are still no land-based casinos in Virginia, but they are on their way. The last election saw voters from Virginia approving the construction of four casinos within the borders of the Commonwealth. Those locations are, namely, Bristol, Danville, Norfolk, and Portsmouth.

It’s yet unclear when the construction will begin (most likely in 2022), but one thing is certain – Virginians will get a chance to bet online much sooner.

In fact, betting apps are expected to launch in Virginia in January or February. According to Kevin Hall, who is the CEO of Virginia Lottery, it’s very likely that Virginia-based bettors will be able to place mobile bets on Super Bowl.

As per the gambling law of Virginia, there can be up to 12 sportsbooks in the state. Some of those that have already applied for the license include the following:

  • Caesars/William Hill
  • Rush Street
  • Hard Rock
  • DraftKings
  • FanDuel
  • BetMGM

The abovementioned sportsbooks/casinos are expected to be the first ones to launch their betting apps in Virginia. When the apps launch, the operators will have to pay 15% tax on gross gaming revenue, which is expected to bring about $5 million to Virginia’s budget in 2021.

A Lucky Slots Player Wins $15.5 Million on Christmas Eve

In Las Vegas, Christmas has come early for a slots player at Suncoast Hotel and Casino, who hit the jackpot worth $15,491,103.27. The winner known only as Kevin broke the record for the highest-win in Las Vegas in eight years.

Whet’s interesting is that the jackpot came when Kevin was playing a $3-worth spin. Before hitting the jackpot, his balance was around $40. The slot machine that brought him the historic win was IGT-powered Megabucks.

This wasn’t the first time Megabucks has changed someone’s life for the better. In 2003, a Los Angeles native won $39.7 million playing the exact same slot machine. The only difference was that it happened at MGM Resorts-owned Excalibur Hotel & Casino.

Something similar happened three years earlier when a woman won $34.9 million at now-defunct Desert Inn.

Other notable jackpots won on Megabucks include the $13.1 million won in 2019 at the Sunset Station Casino in Henderson, and the $10.2 million jackpot won in 3.27 at the Fiesta Henderson Hotel and Casino.

Slot Games With Biggest Jackpots

Launched back in the 1980s, Megabucks can be found only in casinos in Nevada and California. This progressive slot game does not have its online version, but there are plenty of similar slots out there.

Megabucks is a pretty simple game with a simple 3-reel machine that has only one payline. What makes it special is that it features a progressive jackpot that’s higher than in any other game.

So, which online slots come with simple gameplay and large payouts? Some that belong to this category include the following titles:

  • Mega Moolah by Microgaming
  • Hall of Gods by NetEnt
  • Mega Fortune by NetEnt
  • Jackpot Giant by Playtech
  • Aztec Millions by RTG
  • And others.

To win money on slots, you need to spend money. The good news is that you do not have to spend too much. The secret lies in taking advantage of casino bonuses. Luckily for you, now is the best time for bonuses and promos.

Practically every reputable online casino has at least some bonus deals on the table for its player during the festive season. To learn more about them, the best thing you can do is check out MobileCasinoParty’s No Deposit Bonus and Welcome Bonus pages.
